As every year, in May, is dedicated an entire weekend to the Infiorata in Noto: a triumph of colorful flowers in Via Nicolaci and an infinite number of side events in the streets of the city of Baroque.

Infiorata in Noto dedicated to Sicilian in the world

On the occasion of Infiorata, Noto transforms itself into an immense flowering garden. During the days dedicated to this event, the Sicilian town already known for its baroque beauties attracts even more tourists and visitors from all over Italy and beyond.

Are you wondering what Noto’s Infiorata is? We’ll explain it to you (or at least we’ll try!) It is a huge carpet of flowers set up in Via Nicolaci: a carpet of about 700 square meters covered with about 400 thousand flowers. The sketches are drawings by local artists but the one that represents the emblem of the city of Noto is made, as per tradition, by the Institute of Art of the city.
The drawings are inspired by the theme of the year: this year the Infiorata is dedicated to the “Sicilians in the world“. Sicilians who have experienced success stories as immigrants; a sort of “Welcome back” as well as a reflection on the theme of immigration. The event will take place from 17 to the 19 May 2019: but already Thursday night the event begins, when local artists give life to this show that remains open for the next three days.
During these days you can appreciate the Baroque eritage of Noto by participating in the events organized for the occasion: the parade of flag throwers, the Baroque Procession and the markets are examples.
