The Godfather is considered one of the greatest movies in the history of cinema; a tour to its Sicilian locations will definitely be a highlight of any trip to Sicily!

For the Savoca and Forza d’Agrò Tour, we offer free service of pick-up at your accommodation in Taormina and surroundings or at a close meeting point, with comfortable 8 seat vehicles.

First stop of The Godfather Movie Tour: the first location of the half-day tour will be Savoca, a characteristic medieval village. We will visit the fascinating catacombs of the Cappuccini Convent which hosts the mummified bodies of monks and nobles from Savoca. Then, we will move to see the Bar Vitelli, basically the highlight of the tour: it is the set of the scene in which Micheal asks Apollonia’s father for her hand. Nowadays, the bar hosts a small museum of The Godfather movie, but you can also taste a delicious Sicilian granita while looking at the pictures taken during the shooting of the film.

The second stop of The Godfather Movie Tour: the second location that we will visit is the picturesque Forza d’Agrò. There you can visit the Sant’Agostino church on the charming hilltop of the village, featured in the second film, in the scene where Vito escapes to the US hotly pursued by Don Ciccio’s men. Forza d’Agrò also offers a unique panoramic view of the sea and Mount Etna.  Walking along the small alleys, you will breathe the real spirit of Sicily.

At the end of our half-day tour to the locations of The Godfather movie, we will bring you back to the starting point.

If your accommodation is not in Taormina or in the nearby area, you can reach us by booking one of our comfortable transfer services.

GODFATHER MOVIE TOUR: SAVOCA & FORZA D’AGRÒ

Savoca (pronounced with the stress on the first syllable) is one of those just-being-discovered destinations which you should visit as soon as possible. A quiet and crumbling hill village perched high above the sea, this is a really atmospheric taste of authentic Sicily. A world away from the touristy bustle of over-developed Taormina just down the coast, Savoca offers a chance to breathe deeply and see what an unspoiled Sicilian hill village can be. A recent restoration programme, including the development of a classy ‘scattered’ hotel resort, has opened the village to visitors, but a short stroll still passes abandoned dwellings, crumbling churches and amazing rural views.

Forza d’Agrò is a small town in the province of Messina, located on the jonic coast of the Sicily region.
First information about the town dates back to 1117, when Vicum Agrillae (the original name of the village) was given to the Monastery of SS. Peter and Paul d’Agrò. The actual name dates back to the XIV century after having fortified the centre. The word Forza in fact derives from Latin Fortia, and means “fort”, while the addition d’Agrò derives from Greek Agròs, and means “field”.
