A marvelous half day in the afternoon to experience wines of Mt. Etna
Etna Wine Tasting is the occasion to get inside the ancient art of making wine on Mount Etna.
Wine is one of the typical products thanks to which Sicily has gained fame and credit all over the world. Travelling on the slopes of Mt. Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe, you will discover two remarkable wine cellars around the Mountain itself.
You will be driven on amazing roads at the foothills of the Volcano, not only lined by thousands of grape rows, but also by several kind of fruit trees. With untouched nature on both sides and the fantastic view on the Ionian Sea on the background, you will reach the first of the two cellars.
In this first winery you will discover the secrets of the wine production. Mount Etna has a long history of producing this dionisiac drink, with the first traces running back to the Greek colonization in the 7th century b.C.
The sommelier will uncover for you the secrets of this unique liquid. The planting, the different shapes of the trees, the cure they need all year long, until the harvest and the subsequent fermentation and bottling.
Moving on, the Etna Wine Tasting will bring you to the second winery of the day. Here the tasting will be the perfect match for a tasteful homemade lunch. Red and White Etna Wines will be paired by typical products such as olives in brine, grilled seasoned bread, Nebrodi’s salami and cheese and Norma Pasta.
Once the lunch will be over, you will get back on the minivan.
