A summer full of events at the foot of the volcano
A rich calendar of events for the summer in Catania! From the 29th of June to the 26th of October 2019 will be organized sixty events including concerts, exhibitions and events dedicated to cinema, fashion, sport and even solidarity! This is the Catania Summer Fest 2019.
The most awaited appointments
Among the most awaited appointments of Catania Summer Fest 2019 are the concert of Carl Brave that will take place on the 2nd August at the Bellini Garden and that of J-Ax and Article 31 that will also take place at the Bellini Garden on the 7th September. Also expected is the “Summer Festival at the Castello Ursino” which includes three theatrical performances by the Teatro Stabile di Catania, the concerts of the Grand Organ Jaquot of the Cathedral of Catania and also the eleventh edition of the International Festival of short films “Courts in Courtyard” staged from 20 to 22 September. The performance “Uno Nessuno Centomila” with Enrico Lo Verso is expected at the Palazzo della Cultura on August 20th.
Catania Summer Fest 2019 locations
As you may have noticed, the Catania Summer Fest 2019 will take place in the most evocative places of the city: the Ursino Castle and the Bellini Garden are just two examples.
The Ursino Castle, located in the historic center, in Piazza Federico di Svevia (where our office is also located!) was built by Frederick II of Swabia in the thirteenth century, today is home to the civic museum, and you can visit it every day from 9 am to 19 pm.
The Bellini Garden, called Villa Bellini or “A Villa” by the people of Catania, has its main entrance in Via Etnea and dates back to the eighteenth century. It belonged to Prince Ignazio Paternò Castello di Biscari, but on the 29th of September 1854 it was purchased by the municipality of Catania; on 6 January 1883 the “Villa” was inaugurated and became a regular destination for the families of Catania who went there for a walk or for children to play.
